Caitlyn's Golden Birthday

Last week we celebrated my "golden" birthday.  I turned 20 on January 20th and it was a great day...well actually week.  My family always teases me that I turn my birth"day" into a birth"week".  This year was no different.  On Monday we didn't have school so my mom drove down from Logan and we went shopping for the day.  That night we were going to go to my Grandma's house for dinner with my other siblings.  The whole day I tried to call Andrew and ask what he was up to and he would be very vague in all his answers.  I was getting really frustrated with him and had no idea why he didn't want to talk to me.  When we got to my Grandma's house I opened the door with people yelling surprise in my face.  It turns out he had been planning a surprise party for me for awhile.  I had no idea!! Most of my family was there and my really good friend Dani.  We had breakfast food for dinner which is what I've done my entire life.  Then all the gifts that everyone gave me had to be related to 20.  Only one gift didn't relate to 20 and they were tickets to go see Lady Antebellum, Thompson Square, and Darius Rucker on Valentine's Day, thanks to Andrew!!!    My sister-in-law Lauren made made me a delicious cake with a 20 on top.  On my actual birthday I just spent the day with Andrew which was great. He made me breakfast in bed and got me a bouquet of 20 flowers that had white gerber daisies and roses in it.   We headed up to Salt Lake to see a play at Hale Centre Theatre with a stop at IKEA and The Cheesecake Factory. I also got a surprise from the ladies that I work with in Primary.  They left cookies and a balloon on my doorstep when we got home! They're so sweet!   It was a great birthday that I will remember for awhile.  Andrew was so great and sweet with everything that he did for me.
 My surprised face.
Telling Andrew how mad I was at him for not answering my calls, but now I know why :)
This was the only picture we got of people that were there.

Andrew's Internship with KSL and Greg Wrubell

Well the biggest news in the Andrew and Caitlyn Bangerter family is that Andrew got the internship with KSL and Greg Wrubell.  He interviewed on Monday Jan. 9 and then got hired the next day.  This internship is really nice because Andrew got it approved for academic credit.
His first day was that Friday where he met all the sports guys up at KSL:  Jason Shepherd, Tom Kirkland, and Ron Zundel to name a few.  A big part of his internship is producing the Cougar Sports Saturday show and all the BYU basketball games.  Make sure to listen at the very end and they mention Andrew's name.  He is a little bummed that he can't go to any of the BYU games anymore at the Marriott Center, but he is hoping to change that as time goes on.   When he is in Salt Lake he is in charge of all the replays that happen on the radio.  So if you don't hear a replay or something then Andrew is the one to blame. ;)  They told him though that for the most part he can make this internship what he wants it to be.
Andrew is really excited to put his stat skills to the test and help Greg Wrubell out with some projects. He has loved his first couple of days even though they were long 12 hour days.  We'll keep you posted on what he is up to during his internship.

First week of school

Well we survived our first week of winter semester with only me dropping one class....Marriage Prep...haha I guess I really didn't need that class ;) I'm taking 12 credits this semester and working two jobs.  I still work at the good ole library and I'm a TA again for the same teacher.  It is a Student Development class called Career Explorations.  It was a fun experience last semester and I'm excited to see how this one goes. Andrew is taking 14 credits and taking his first class from the BYU Salt Lake Center.  He said the weirdest thing was sitting in his class and seeing the Energy Solutions Arena but having pictures of LaVell Edwards Stadium on the wall.  He loves it though because there are only 5 people in his class.  He is no longer working at the MTC this semester.  The MTC was a great experience for him and he would not trade if for anything.  Right now he is waiting to hear back about an internship with KSL Radio and Greg Wrubell and will interview with him on Monday.  While we wait to hear back, he is working as a TA for the Stats department.

It is also my Mom's birthday this week and my parents came down on Friday.  My dad kept asking my mom what she wanted for her birthday but she never said anything.  She finally told him that she wanted to come have dinner with all her kids in Provo.  So they drove down on Friday and we went to Milagros in Orem.  It was a fun restaurant and we heard that Bronco Mendenhall is a frequent customer. We then headed to the Cocoa Bean and had cupcakes.  It was great to see my parents.

Adam's birthday is today and we will be heading to Brick Oven for lunch and the BYU basketball game after.  It has been fun to have Adam's family here and to get to spend time with the Bangerter family.

The best part about having so many birthdays in one week is that I don't have to cook every night! (Hence the two logos posted)

Well this sums up our week pretty good.  We're excited for another one.

End of a great year!

This year has been filled with some incredible events.  Mainly, that I met Andrew and we have started a great new life together.  Also, that we attend BYU and we're receiving a wonderful education.  We love living in Provo and are excited for what the new year will bring.  It was nice to have a two week break from school and to have some time to spend with both of our families.  For the first week we were in American Fork with Andrew's family.  It was fun to have Adam and Lindsey and their two little girls with us.  The week was filled with fun games, good food, and a spontaneous dance party.  After Christmas we headed up to Logan to be with my family and enjoy some more fun.  We had a "second Christmas" on Tuesday.  We did all our same Christmas Eve traditions of singing/dancing to the 12 days of Christmas, opening books and socks, and of course having British crackers for our Christmas Eve dinner. After dinner all the kids went downstairs for a half hour while "Santa" came for a second time.  For New Years Eve we went back to American Fork to have a party with Adam and Lindsey and Joseph and Andrea Beck's family's. Then a couple of days later we decided to break our our chocolate fountain that we got from our wedding.  It was a hit, Andrew had a little too much fun with it. (See Picture)  We are so blessed to have both of our families live in Utah and to get to spend time with both of them. 2012 is going to be full of lots of new goals and new experiences that we can't wait for.  We hope you all have a Happy New Year!!!
We were able to go the the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert.  Then we walked around Temple Square to see the lights.
 Our first Christmas tree.
 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :)
