After the wedding I headed up to Logan to spend time with my parents for a week. It was a busy but relaxing week doing some of my favorite things that can only be done in Utah.
#1 The Pumpkin Walk
This is one of my favorite traditions in Logan around Halloween. People from the neighborhood decorate pumpkins to a specific theme each year. Then you walk around the park and look at all the different scenes. There are some pretty creative ideas! We especially enjoyed the Studio C and Juanito Bandito scenes.
#2 Eat Lots of Food
I had a list of restaurants and places that I wanted to eat. Unfortunately, I didn't get to all of them but I made a pretty good dent in the list. On the top of the list was Costa Vida. I have not found anything as good or better than Costa Vida out East...sorry all my Chiptole friends but it is just gross!
I was so happy that it was cold enough to drink Hot Chocolate!
Ellie even enjoyed Costa Vida
#3 Halloween
This was Ellie's first Halloween and since we were not all going to be together we didn't do a family costume. Instead I had Ellie wear my first Halloween costume from when I was her age. She was the cutest pumpkin you have ever seen! We just went trick or treating to a few houses and then headed to the USU basketball game. Andrew's team at work even won the costume contest at their work party.
#4 Family Time
The best part of the whole week was the time I got to spend with family. Living so far away you forget how much you appreciate your family and all that they do for you. Miss Ellie is so lucky to have 7 cousins all born within a year of her. They are all going to be the best of friends. The best is to watch Ellie and Maggie together. Ellie gets a huge smile on her face when she sees her! You can just tell that they know each other and that they were best friends before they came down here to Earth. We sure are glad we moved to a destination city that entices family to come visit us! Can't wait to see you all soon!
#5 Flight Home
Again I was SUPER nervous to fly home with Ellie by myself. But AGAIN the Lord blessed me. I'm not going to say it was an easy flight but things worked out and made it doable.(I think that is a word) I only had a minor meltdown when I went to check in to my flight the night before to find out I had a middle seat. I told Andrew I could not do a middle seat. Being the wonderful husband he is he called Delta and convinced them to give me an aisle seat. The flight attendants were great and so many other passengers were nice. I had a few ladies just take Ellie to have a turn trying to get her to fall asleep and kept telling me what a good job I was doing. It even turned out that nobody sat in the middle seat so Ellie had her own seat. Also, the girl seating next to us was in our Stake back in Florida. I saw many tender mercies from the Lord every step along the way.
