June 2016-Brazil Part 1

This is really late but I want to keep this blog up for family history reasons!

We were lucky enough to go visit Andrew's parents while they are serving as Mission Presidents over the Salvador South Mission in Brazil.

My mom was a champ and flew out to watch Ellie so we wouldn't have to worry about taking her on this 10 day trip.

The day my mom arrived we had a little scare. Ellie got into Andrew's razors and cut her finger. It would not stop bleeding for what felt like forever. I frantically called my dad and was trying to take pictures so he could tell me if I needed to go the ER. Ellie wasn't really phased by it until I started freaking out. Then she started running around the house with blood dripping everywhere. I finally stuck her in the bath. I wish I would have taken a picture of our house because it looked like a murder scene with all the blood. Luckily it did stop bleeding and we didn't need stitches.

When my mom arrived we did a quick trip to Magic Kingdom.

Our flight was delayed in Miami for a few hours because the A/C wasn't working on the plane. We enjoyed these rocking chair.
Off to Sao Paulo! Side story.....When we first booked our tickets we were going to have a direct flight from Miami to Salvador. About two months before our flight the airline called and told us they would no longer be flying to Salvador and we needed to find a new route. We were super bummed because our trip would have just been one 8 hour non-stop flight to Salvador. Instead we head to over shoot Salvador and have a layover in Sao Paulo!

Our layover turned out to be a tender mercy in Sao Paulo. Andrew's dad was born here and he has always had a special connection to the city. He was glad that he could at least say he has been to the airport of the city where his dad was born.
Nothing like seeing advertising for Disney. Brazil actually is the number one country where tourists are from visiting Disney World.
We made it to Salvador! When we landed in Sao Paulo it really hit us that neither one of us speaks Portuguese!! The airport was huge and we had to get a baggage and re-check in. We literally walked right on to our plane to Salvador.  When we landed we came out of a different door than Andrew's parents were expecting....we snuck up behind them and gave them a little scare! :) It was a fun reunion after not seeing them for a year.

Brother Holmes of the General YM Presidency was arriving at the same time as we were for an assignment to visit the mission next to my in-laws. So we waited for him with the Lisonbee's (mission presidents of Salvador mission). We then all went out to lunch at a fancy restaurant on the water. Then we walked around the Pelourinho (historic city center of Salvador)

We made it to Mission Home!!

May 2016

Nothing like posting about a year after things happen. Good thing pictures tell the stories so well! Here is our May 2016!

Disney Springs officially opened which means Sprinkles opened. They were pretty good cupcakes. Pricey and not my favorite.
We love quick night trips with friends to Magic Kingdom.
When you finish stuff from Personal Progress...Sister Bangerter will take you to Disney. This was a fun morning with some of my Mia Maids.

These sand hill cranes like to knock on our door.

The Flower and Garden Festival is beautiful at Epcot.
Ellie's check up! She is still growing at her own rate and not registering on the charts nationally.

So we tried to go to Tampa/Clearwater beach over Memorial Day weekend. It was a nightmare of traffic and it cost $40 to park anywhere. So we turned right around and headed home. To brighten our day we found a Pita Pit in Winter Park.

On Memorial Day we went to watch the Hall of President's
 This girl keeps us laughing!
 Here comes Summer! :(
Andrew hit his one year mark and got this cool pin to add to his nametag!
