Beach Day

One of the many perks of living in North Carolina is the beach. It is definitely something new for both of us to live this close to the ocean. It was such a great day even though there were some dark clouds moving all around us. We were excited to use our cheap boogie boards that we had found. The best part of the whole day was how warm the water was. It was actually really nice to just swim around and be in the water. Even though we got some extremely bad sunburns the day was a success.

U.S. Open

When Andrew heard that the  U.S. Open would only be an hour away from us he hopped on the computer and bought tickets for a practice round. I don't love golf but I do enjoy watching it on TV a little bit with Andrew so how could this be any different. Once we got there you had to go through security and you couldn't take your phone with you. It was definitely weird not having our phones all day long! Walking into the golf course was really nice. They lead you right into the merchandise store where they had everything you could possibly need for golf. I had to hold Andrew back from the Nike section. ;) As we approached the first hole I saw a big crowd and wanted to go look to see who it was. Andrew wanted to go to the bathroom but I convinced him to first see who it was. Turns out it was Bubba Watson... the latest Masters winner! We were about 20 feet away from him while he played the hole. Andrew was grateful that I had convinced him to not go to the bathroom first! :) We decided to camp out at the 15th hole where they had some stands. It was nice to sit and have the golfers come to you instead of walking around to see them. We saw Jim Furyk, Martin Kaymer (He is German and ended up winning the tournament), and a ton more players that I can't remember. We also met some really nice people. We met a man who talked to us for about 20 minutes about BYUtv and things to do in North Carolina. We also ran into some LDS people who were just so nice and wanted to talk with us. Overall, the day was super fun. It was actually one of my favorite sporting events that I have ever been to and yes I do realize I said that about a golfing event. :)
