So for those who are closest to me may know about my obsession with Kate Middleton. I guess Andrew is probably the number one person who knows about it and now all my co-workers after the reporting on the birth of their baby this week. haha Since Kate and Prince William got married the same week we got engaged, I feel like we just have a special bond or connection. Ever since their marriage I have kept my eye on what she has been up to and how she has adjusted to her new role. It dosen't help that at work I get to look through different news websites all the time. I have always been really impressed by her and how she controls every situation she is put into. I feel she is a perfect role model that we need right now in this world of not so great role models. She dresses fairly modest but also stays fashionable at the same time. From a Latter-day Saint perspective it is very refreshing to have her be a fashion icon and actually be able to wear the clothes that she wears. In my opinion, she is telling the world that you don't have to show every single part of your body to be beautiful.
After she announced that she was going to have a baby I got really excited. I wasn't alive for William and Harry's birth so I didn't know what to expect. I definitely didn't expect that they would have a live feed camera on the doors of the hospital for 24 hours of the day. When I discovered this I got hooked! :) After watching for five hours to hear the announcement...I missed it! haha I was so upset and my co-workers just laughed at me. I may have also started a game of guessing the gender and the weight while I was there at work (My boss won and I had to make him cookies). Then when I heard that they would be walking out the next day I of course turned on the live feed again all morning. I really wanted it to happen before I went to work so I wouldn't be the laughing stock at work...but that didn't happen. The grand exit finally happened after I had been at work for 30 minutes. It was so fun to see them walk out holding their cute new baby and talking to the press about him. I had to email Andrew to make sure he watched the replay. haha
When I got home from work that night I was so excited. I watched every news report and special on Kate and William. (I may have stayed up till 1 in the morning to watch one on CNN) Of course Andrew was a good sport about it and added to the fun. He also pointed out a very important thing...He said it is so nice to watch the news celebrating a family... A mother, a father, and their new baby. I guess I'm used to families being celebrating among my close friends and family but in the media today we don't see it. We don't see a married male and female who have a baby. It just made me reflect on how there is hope in the world. There is hope that the traditional family can stay strong. Of course my knowledge from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always confirmed to me that this is the type of family that we should have. The Family: A Proclamation to the World is such a powerful proclamation from the leaders of my church. (To read the document go to this link https://www.lds.org/topics/family-proclamation) I know that this document is true and that having a family is the most important thing that we can do while here on this earth. I also know that families can be together forever thanks to the covenants that we make in the temple. I'm so grateful for my family and the family members that will be added to our family in the near future.
Thanks for listening to my rant about my obsession with Kate Middleton. Congrats Kate and William on your cute new baby boy!
