As we were sitting in the hot hot sun for a couple of hours we started to feel a breeze which felt really nice. Then we saw a storm coming in but it looked farther away and probably wouldn't hit us. BOY WERE WE WRONG!!! This storm came out of nowhere with 60 mph wind speeds!!! At first it just started to sprinkle and the team came out to warm up....then all of a sudden it was just a DOWN POUR of rain. Luckily, since we were the front row we had some signs that we put over our heads but those didn't work for too long. Not too long after the down pour started the stands started to flood! As you can imagine since we were the front row all the water that was above us came rushing down over our feet. My feet were literally covered with water above my ankle and the water was sweeping everyone's purses and anything else onto the field.
After we were soaked, Andrew and I jumped ship and ran for cover. Part of our group held out in the rain until the police came and said they had to leave. (We found out later that they made the front cover of a Texas newspaper) As we were waiting for the storm to pass we gave up and decided to walk over to Andrew's cousin's house which is right by the stadium. We figured it would be nice to go to a warm place before heading back to the game. She was so nice and gave us and everyone who came with us nice dry clothes while all our wet clothes were thrown in the dryer.
When it was finally announced that the game would start half of our group headed back to try and get our front row seats back. Unfortunately, people were being really rude and not letting us get our seats back even after we showed them pictures that we were on the front row and had been standing in line since 9 am. Andrew and I decided since we wouldn't get our seats back we would go home and change into dry clothes. When we got home I was so tired and sick of standing that I decided to stay home and Andrew headed back. Luckily, when Andrew got back to the game some nice people let them sit on the front row.
In the end we creamed Texas who was ranked when we played them and it was a really fun game to watch. It was nice for me to sit in my warm house with my pajamas on! :) Hopefully this week we won't see any rain and we can cream Utah even more than we did Texas!
GO COUGARS!
