A few weeks ago Andrew called me and said that he just signed his first NBA contract! I was SO confused and thought that he had decided to make a 360 degree career change to become a NBA basketball player. Luckily, that was not the case but it was something even better. The Jazz have been coordinating with BYU's Statistics department to hire a few students to do a few projects with them. Since Andrew is in the first Sports Analytics class at BYU and has been helping BYU's basketball team, he was chosen to work with the Jazz as a consultant. He had to sign this five page contract pretty much saying that he could not tell anyone what he was working on for the next five years. What he can say is that he is helping the Jazz with their scouting for the upcoming draft. (I know super vague) This job came as a HUGE blessing for us. It also is going to be GREAT for his resume since he can now say he has worked with a professional sports team.
I'm so proud of Andrew and all the hard work that he has put into finding the best career for him. He has been working on getting into Sports Analytics for two years now and to finally see some reward for that has been awesome.
Hopefully little blessings like this will continue to happen as he starts school at NC State.
